The Flower of Life pattern as an ancient symbol consisting of overlapping circles equally spaced apart (forming Vesica Pisces). This symbol has been found in ancient sacred sites around the world. It seems as though in ancient times this symbol was well known for it’s true meaning. It can be found in such cultures as Egypt, Mesopotamia, Israel, Asia, Japan, India, and many other places. The famous Leonardo Da Vinci used certain ratios derived from this shape for many of his advanced inventions that were beyond his time. Its true meaning was lost for many centuries and until the last century remained hidden.

This symbol represents the creation of the entire universe. It is the moment when spirit began the creation and it continues to emanate as the underlying foundation of all things. It is said that coded within this symbol is all of the information that exists. Many other sacred symbols are derived from the Flower of Life. The Tree of Life, which is the map of consciousness used in teachings of the Qabalah, is derived from the Flower of Life. There are five shapes known as the platonic solids that are the “building blocks” for the entire universe. They are the tetrahedron, hexahedron, octahedron, icosahedron, and dodecahedron. Everything we know forms from these five shapes. They are found throughout the entire natural world all the way down to the molecular level. These five shapes share similar geometric properties that make them so special. One of these properties is that they are all derived from another shape known as Metatron’s Cube. Metatron’s Cube is a special 6 sided figure that is created out of the Flower of Life. We can know begin to understand how all things are created out of the Flower of Life. Another important shape derived from the Flower of Life is the Egg of Life, which is another six sided shape. This shape is identical to the formation that embryonic cells take as they being to multiply after conception. One of the other major shapes that is derived from the Flower of Life is the sacred shape known as the Merkaba (geometrically known as the star tetrahedron). This shape is composed of two interlocking 3-sided pyramids. The Merkaba is known as our spiritual vehicle. It helps us to transcend to new levels of spirituality. This is only the beginning of some of the mysteries of this amazing symbol.

This symbol has a variety of ways to be used for an individual’s growth and healing. It can be used as a focus for meditation. By entering into a relaxed state (physically and mentally) one can focus on this symbol and begin to receive intuitive understanding of it (since it is built into the fabric of our minds). It is also a powerful focus and template for sacred artwork. Just taking the time to draw this amazing symbol has powerful effects on consciousness. Give it a try, you never know what might emerge.
